Recently, I posted a selection of my favourite and rather unlikely musical covers. Then, I heard this. And quite simply got tingles all over.
Jessie J covers Rihanna's 2011 smash 'We Found Love' which has been Number 1 for an astounding 14 weeks. This record breaking reign has even surpassed Rihanna's 10 week run at Number 1 for 'Umbrella'.
Jessie J changed up the whole entire Electro House track making it a deeply emotional and heart felt acoustic during the beginning half of the cover; followed by switching it up and making it her own with her signatures riffs and beautiful vocal range. Watch the video of the cover below.

Robin Thicke Arrested for Possession of Marijuana
Oh Robin. *bows head down in disappointment*
It's never a real shocker when a celebrity is arrested for possession of drugs, yet somehow I found myself double checking. 'Robin Thicke? As in, Robin Thicke?!' I exclaimed in disbelief. His suave persona and beautiful velvet soft voice had me so fooled! The smooth crooner and other half of actress Paula Patton, was arrested in Manhattan according to reports in the New York Daily News. No further details on the arrest have been disclosed.

This is the second arrest this month in celebville. Producer Scott Storch was arrested last night in Las Vegas for possession of Cocaine. Storch who is best known for working with music heavyweights Fat Joe, 50 Cent, Dr Dre and Beyonce is a known recovering drug addict. According to a U.S Law Enforcement report, Storch attempted to hide a bag full of cocaine (approx 2.7 grams worth) in a nearby trash can by the Cosmopolitan Hotel where the arrest took place, he was later released.

Chris Brown Turns Up The Music and Features on Rihanna's 'Birthday Cake'?
So my first blog post was about Chris Brown's Grammy win, and within 2 days, here I am posting about the multi talented star yet again.
This time to post his brand new video that I have personally been looking forward to. I must say I am very pleased at only having to experience a 2 day wait! The video for his single 'Turn Up The Music' which he co-directed is very futuristic, which begins with C.Breezy getting into a floating Taxi (of course). This leads to a full on street party full of dancers wearing animalistic masks (a little creepy) followed by a wild club party full of laser flashing, body popping and straight up epicness.
Scenes of Chris Brown imitating the late MJ's dance moves, dancing in his white flairs and suspenders in the rain, oh and of course the shirtless scenes, will send all girls heart racing! Chris Brown absolutely delivered!

On the topic of Mr Brown, the rumours are spreading across the internet like wild fire. The inevitable is about to unfold!
It was only a matter of time before Rihanna and ex boyfriend were to reunite, whether it be musically or personally. Now it appears to be both. At the same time.
It was confirmed last night via MissInfo.Net that Rihanna has recorded a remix to her song 'Birthday Cake' where she playfully sings 'Its not even my Birthday...but he wanna lick the icing off...' This appears on her album only as a 1 minute 21 second interlude. It was also confirmed that ex-boyfriend Chris Brown has recorded a rap verse as well as a singing verse for this song and rumours are flying that there will be a video which he will appear in.
The last time the two stars collaborated in music was during their high profile relationship when Chris Brown did a remix to her hugely successful 'Umbrella'. Not to forget Chris Brown penned her song 'Disturbia'.
Da Internz who Co-Produced 'Birthday Cake' told MTV, "It's gonna be crazy. And the feature on there is gonna shock the world" Rihanna teased her fans on Twitter by saying, "Now here's the trick question! #IF I put collaborator on it, who would u wanna see lick the icing off????? #CAKE "And please!!!! No girls allowed on #CAKE."

The pair have been turning up to the same clubs, restaurants and Chris Brown even attended the 24 years olds birthday celebrations this month so they have clearly put their volatile past behind them. I would love to see a musical reunion between the pair. Let's watch this space.

New Song & Video Alert! Cassie - King Of Hearts
Cassie - 'King Of Hearts' still
When Cassie exploded onto the Music scene with 'Me & U' back in 2006 I was sure she was destined for a vibrant and long career. Despite her signing to P.Diddy's label Bad Boy Records and having released a few singles after her debut smash, her music career since then has been rather limp.
I would argue this is down to the fact that she stopped working with Ryan Leslie, who was the musical genius behind 'Me & U'.
Nevertheless, she has stayed busy with her modelling career, like her cameo appearance in Calvin Klein's 'CK One' Commercial.

Judging from comments on her Youtube videos, the general feedback is that the 25 year old should stick to modelling and leave the music alone. However, after a long break from music, Cassie delivers an Electro Pop track produced by J2 titled 'King of Hearts'.
The song mirrors most of her previous songs, gently sung and heavily reliant on an upbeat banger of a track. If you cast your mind back to 2004's 'Move Ya Body' by sister duo Nina Sky, this is almost the exact same beat and drum pattern. The video for the single which was shot in Malibu is very provocative and just like her vocals, extremely seductive.
Cassie told BET's 106 & Park “I shot it with Chris Sims and he has done a lot of rock videos in the past so I wanted to try something different, something just different from me”. Her signature jet black locks are a few shades lighter in the video but her shaved section of her head remains, much to my dismay. Oh, and I'm feeling her moves when she gets down in this video.

Kanye West hits Paris Fashion Week for a Second Shot.
When Rap superstar Kanye West's fashion line debut was announced I was VERY excited to see what he had on offer. However, after the models stepped out and onto the catwalk during Paris Fashion Week in October 2011, I could not help the feeling of disappointment take over me.
I was not alone.
Critics had a field day and went to town with slating his new Ladies range saying the line 'lacked cohesion' and 'some pieces appeared ill-fitting'. The Telegraph went as far as saying "Kanye West's debut fashion collection is rap with a capital-C"
Hilarious yes. But a little harsh in my opinion. Other critics urged him to "stick to the day job".
Needless to say Kanye West was not going to quit that easy and is determined to win over his critics. Kanye is neither shy of, or a stranger to mass criticsm and so he plans on braving critics by returning his line to the catwalk. This time he will be showing off his Fall/Winter 2012 Ladies Collection at Paris Fashion Week on March 6th.

Sof's Song of the week - Gotye 'Somebody That I Used To Know'
'Somebody That I Used To Know' is a fine example of flawless pop perfection with an 80s infectious vibe.
Belgian-Australian artist Gotye's vocals are reminiscent of Sting and the lyrics reflect a bitterness following a break up. A tale many can relate to.
It's simple and evocative sounds combined with its haunting and emotional message make for brilliance.
The video gets a thumbs up from me, very artistic and different so I applaud the Video Director Natasha Pincus. I can imagine it must have taken hours to film.
With over 72 million views on Youtube, I'm sure the 6 months Gotye spent penning this song were well worth it!

Florence & The Machine, Adele, Ed Sheeran, Ellie Goulding Covers
When it comes to music, there is nothing I love more than a catchy melody and great lyrics. Oh, and a heavy bass line every now and again.
What I love more however, is a GREAT cover by an unlikely artist from a completely different musical genre. Genius.
Here are a few of my favourite covers. Enjoy! Xx
